Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh 2025

Context : Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh 2025 is a year-long national celebration honouring the rich legacy of India’s tribal freedom fighters—especially Bhagwan Birsa Munda, revered as Dharti Aaba—and marking 150 years of the national song “Vande Mataram.” The initiative aims to highlight the vital role of tribal communities in India’s freedom struggle, cultural identity, and nation-building.

Organisations Involved:
The celebration is spearheaded by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), with active support from Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs), State Governments, Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS), and various cultural organisations.

Aim:
To honour tribal heritage, resilience, and patriotism while promoting national pride and cultural inclusivity—reflecting the spirit of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas.

Key Features:

  • Cultural Commemoration:
    Grand cultural events, exhibitions, and Janjati Gaurav Yatras celebrating tribal heroes and their contribution to India’s independence movement.
  • Educational Outreach:
    Awareness initiatives for students through competitions, literacy drives, and museum visits focusing on tribal history and values.
  • Community Empowerment:
    Digital and financial literacy programmes in EMRS schools to strengthen socio-economic inclusion among tribal communities.
  • National Integration:
    Nationwide singing of Vande Mataram, art and sports festivals, and inter-state cultural exchanges to reinforce unity and collective pride.

    Celebrations spread across states like Jharkhand, Odisha, Gujarat, Nagaland, and Ladakh, combining traditional tribal culture with modern aspirations.

The Janjati Gaurav Yatra (Tribal Pride March)—from Ambaji and Umargam to the Statue of Unity (Ektanagar)—stands as a symbolic journey of unity, showcasing India’s strength through its diverse tribal heritage.
