Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs

Launched by: PM Narendra Modi on 4 October 2025 at Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh.

Budget: ₹60,000 crore.

Aim:

  • Upgrade 1,000 ITIs across India in a hub-and-spoke model (200 hubs + 800 spokes).

  • Provide cutting-edge infrastructure, digital learning, and industry-integrated training.

  • Align skilling with future technologies like AI, robotics, semiconductors, EVs, and renewable energy.

Key Features:

  • Hubs: Advanced labs, innovation and incubation centres, trainer development institutes, and placement cells.

  • Spokes: Local ITIs connected to hubs, ensuring wider outreach to small towns and villages.

  • Industry Partnership: Anchor partners from industries will manage clusters, ensuring employability and real-time curriculum updates.

  • Integration with Schools: Launch of 1,200 Vocational Skill Labs in Navodaya & Eklavya schools, plus training of 1,200 vocational teachers to build early exposure.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Increased employability, entrepreneurship, and innovation among youth.

  • Strengthening of Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat through a skilled workforce.

  • Balanced development by reaching remote and underdeveloped regions.

  • Positioning India as a global skill hub to meet domestic and international workforce demands.

This scheme is projected to transform India’s ITI network into world-class centres of excellence, empowering lakhs of young people with 21st-century job skills
